Privacy Policy — The Career Trail

The Career Trail ("the App") is owned and operated by Eric Kelly Coach LLC ("we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
By using The Career Trail, you agree to the practices described below.
1. Information We Collect
Information You Provide
Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address. You may optionally provide your name.
Career and onboarding information. To generate your personalized 90-day plan, the App collects information you enter, which may include your job title, industry, employer type, start date, career goals, self-assessment responses, milestone notes, and the names or roles of people you add to your Trusted Circle.
Support communications. If you contact us, we retain your message and contact details so we can respond.
Information Collected Automatically
Usage data. We collect information about how you use the App, including features accessed, milestones completed, session timing, and general activity patterns.
Device and diagnostic data. We collect device type, operating system version, app version, and crash or error logs to diagnose problems and improve stability.
Payment Information
We do not collect or store your payment card details.
- Purchases made inside the iOS App are processed by Apple. We receive confirmation that a purchase occurred, but not your payment method.
- Purchases made through our website are processed by Stripe. Stripe collects and stores your payment information directly under its own privacy policy.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and maintain your account
- Generate and personalize your 90-day plan, milestones, and prep guidance
- Save your progress across sessions and devices
- Process and confirm purchases and manage access to paid features
- Respond to support requests
- Diagnose technical problems and improve the App
- Send service-related messages about your account or purchase
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your information for third-party advertising.
3. Artificial Intelligence Processing
The Career Trail uses artificial intelligence to generate personalized plans, prep scripts, and guidance.
When you request personalized content, the information you have entered is transmitted to a third-party AI service provider for processing. That provider generates a response, which is returned to the App and saved to your account.
We select providers that do not use submitted content to train their models. However, AI-generated guidance is produced automatically and may occasionally be inaccurate or incomplete. It is offered as career guidance and is not professional, legal, financial, or employment advice.
Please avoid entering confidential employer information, trade secrets, or sensitive personal details about yourself or others.
4. How We Share Your Information
We share information only with service providers who help us operate the App, and only as needed for them to perform their function:

We may also disclose information if required by law, in response to valid legal process, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
We do not share your information with employers, recruiters, or any other third party for their own marketing or hiring purposes.
5. Data Retention
We retain your account information and career data for as long as your account remains active.
If you delete your account, we delete your personal information and career data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain certain records — such as transaction records for tax and accounting purposes — for longer periods under applicable law.
Anonymized or aggregated data that cannot identify you may be retained indefinitely.
6. Your Rights and Choices
Account Deletion
You may delete your account at any time from within the App. Account deletion permanently removes your profile, plan, milestones, and associated career data.
You may also request deletion by emailing ekelly@erickellycoach.com.
Access and Correction
You may review and update the information in your profile and plan directly in the App. To request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, contact us at the address above.
Residents of California
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion, to request correction, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA.
Residents of the European Economic Area and United Kingdom
Under the GDPR and UK GDPR, you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability. Our legal bases for processing are performance of a contract (providing the App you signed up for), legitimate interests (improving and securing the App), and consent where required.
You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

7. Data Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information, including encryption of data in transit and access controls on our systems.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please use a strong, unique password and notify us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.
8. Children's Privacy
The Career Trail is intended for adults entering or advancing in the professional workforce. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact ekelly@erickellycoach.com.
9. International Users
The Career Trail is operated from the United States. If you use the App from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses for these transfers.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last Updated" date above. If we make material changes, we will provide notice through the App or by email.
Your continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
